कुछ बातें हैं जो बच्चों को स्कूल भेजने से पहले सिखाने की जरूरत है-
1- बच्चे को साफ-सफाई का महत्व समझाएं, खासकर पर्सनल हाइजीन। उसे बताएं कि स्कूल में जब भी उसे टॉयलेट आए या फिर शौच के लिए जाना हो तो वह टीचर या साथ के किसी बच्चे को बताए। इसके अलावा उसे खुद भी शौच के बाद साफ-सफाई करना आना चाहिए। उसे बताएं कि साफ-सफाई न रहने की वजह से कैसे इंफेक्शन फैल सकता है। एक बार ये सभी बातें बच्चों की आदत में शुमार हो गईं तो वह कभी नहीं भूलेंगे।
2- बच्चे को बताएं कि वह किसी के साथ भी लड़ाई-झगड़ा या अभद्र व्यवहार न करे। अगर कोई बच्चा उसे परेशान कर रहा हो तो वह टीचर के अलावा पैरेंट्स को भी बताए। सभी के साथ प्यार से पेश आए।
3- इन बातों के अलावा पढ़ाई-लिखाई संबंधी कुछ बेसिक चीजें हैं जो आपको बच्चे को सिखानी चाहिए। जैसे कि उसे अल्फाबेट लिखना सिखाएं, गिनतियां सिखाएं और कुछ आसान सी कविताएं भी उसे सिखा सकते हैं। इससे बच्चा स्कूल में जाने पर एकदम से ब्लैंक नहीं होगा।
4- अगर बच्चे को सिर्फ आपके हाथ से ही खाना खाने की आदत है, तो उसकी इस आदत में बदलाव करें। उसे खुद अपने हाथों से खाना सिखाएं। ध्यान रखें कि बच्चा कुछ भी खाने से पहले हाथ अच्छी से धोए।
5- बच्चे को बड़ों का आदर करना सिखाएं। अगर उन्हें कोई कुछ चीज देता है या फिर वे किसी से कुछ लेते हैं तो इसके बदले में थैंक यू कहना सिखाएं। गलती करने पर सॉरी बोलना भी सिखाएं।
