नईदिल्ली। पूर्व राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी (84) का सोमवार को अस्पताल में निधन हो गया। उनका अंतिम संस्कार आज दोपहर करीब 2 बजे नई दिल्ली के लोधी रोड स्थित श्मशान घाट में किया जाएगा। प्रणब मुखर्जी का पार्थिव शरीर अंतिम दर्शन के लिए उनके 10 राजाजी मार्ग स्थित आवास पर रखा गया है।

राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद, प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी, रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह, सीडीएस बिपिन रावत और तीनों सेनाओं के प्रमुखों समेत कई नेताओं ने पूर्व राष्ट्रपति को श्रद्धांजलि दी। कोरोना प्रोटोकॉल के साथ आज अंतिम संस्कार किया जाएगा।

प्रणब का सोमवार शाम निधन हो गया था। 10 अगस्त से दिल्ली के आर्मी रिसर्च एंड रेफरल हॉस्पिटल में भर्ती थे। इसी दिन ब्रेन से क्लॉटिंग हटाने के लिए इमरजेंसी में सर्जरी की गई थी। इसके बाद से उनकी हालत गंभीर बनी हुई थी। उन्हें वेंटिलेटर पर रखा गया था। वे कोरोना से संक्रमित भी हो गए थे। प्रणब के निधन पर 7 दिन का राष्ट्रीय शोक घोषित किया गया है।

राष्ट्रपति कोविंद, पीएम मोदी ने जताया शोक
प्रणब मुखर्जी के निधन पर राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद और प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने शोक जताया है। मोदी ने लिखा- “भारत रत्न श्री प्रणब मुखर्जी के निधन पर भारत शोक व्यक्त करता है। उन्होंने हमारे राष्ट्र के विकास पथ पर एक अमिट छाप छोड़ी है। वे एक विद्वान स्कॉलर रहे। उन्हें समाज के हर वर्ग ने पसंद किया। मैं 2014 में दिल्ली में पहुंचा। पहले ही दिन से मुझे श्री प्रणब मुखर्जी का मार्गदर्शन, समर्थन और आशीर्वाद मिला। मैं हमेशा उसके साथ अपनी बातचीत को संजोकर रखूंगा। उनके परिवार, दोस्तों, प्रशंसकों और पूरे भारत में उनके समर्थकों के प्रति मेरी संवेदनाएं हैं। ओम शांति।”

कॉलेज में भी पढ़ाया
प्रणब का जन्म ब्रिटिश दौर की बंगाल प्रेसिडेंसी (अब पश्चिम बंगाल) के मिराती गांव में 11 दिसंबर 1935 को हुआ था। उन्होंने कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय से पॉलिटिकल साइंस और हिस्ट्री में एमए किया। वे डिप्टी अकाउंट जनरल (पोस्ट एंड टेलीग्राफ) में क्लर्क भी रहे। 1963 में वे कोलकाता के विद्यानगर कॉलेज में पॉलिटिकल साइंस के लेक्चरर भी रहे।

राजनीतिक सफर
प्रणब के पॉलिटिकल करियर की शुरुआत 1969 में हुई। उन्होंने मिदनापुर उपचुनाव में वीके कृष्ण मेनन का कैम्पेन सफलतापूर्वक संभाला था। तब प्रधानमंत्री रहीं इंदिरा गांधी ने उनकी प्रतिभा को देखते हुए उन्हें पार्टी में शामिल कर लिया। 1969 में ही प्रणब राज्यसभा के लिए चुने गए। इसके बाद 1975, 1981, 1993 और 1999 में राज्यसभा के लिए चुने गए।
