ज्यादा चौंकाने वाली बात यह है कि इन पीड़ित बच्चों की उम्र मात्र पांच साल बतायी गयी है। एम्स की यह रिसर्च निम्न व मध्यम वर्गीय परिवार के बच्चों पर की गयी। इसके मद्देनजर उच्च वर्गीय परिवार के बच्चों की स्थिति तो और भी चिंताजनक हो सकती है, जो बदलती जीवनशैली के तहत अपना ज्यादा समय मोबाइल गेम्स पर बिताते हैं। किसी भी पीड़ित बच्चे के शरीर में कोलेस्ट्रॉल की मात्रा अगर बचपन से ही ज्यादा है, तो बहुत कम उम्र में ही उसे हाइ ब्लड प्रेशर या दिल की अन्य बीमारियों सहित हार्ट अटैक का खतरा घेर लेता है।

कानपुर स्थित हैलेट एलएलआर अस्पताल के फिजिशियन डॉ मनीष वर्मा बताते हैं कि कम उम्र में ओवर वेट की समस्या आगे चल कर और खतरनाक होती जा रही है।
घुटने कमजोर होने, हाइ ब्लड प्रेशर, डायबिटीज, हार्ट डिजीज होना आम बात है। यहां ऐसे 3500 मरीज रोजाना हैलेट ओपीडी आते हैं। इनमें 32 प्रतिशत मरीज युवा होते हैं, वहीं 10 प्रतिशत बच्चे भी होते हैं। इनमें 35 प्रतिशत बच्चों में मोटापा और बीपी के शुरूआती लक्षण पाये गये।
समय-समय पर करवाएं स्क्रीनिंग
 बच्चों के शरीर में कोलेस्ट्रॉल के कम या ज्यादा होने का पता खून की जांच से संभव हो पाता है। इसके साथ यह भी जरूरी है कि अगर परिवार में पहले से कोई कोलेस्ट्रॉल की समस्या से ग्रसित है या फिर किसी की हृदय रोग से मृत्यु हुई हो, तो भी समय-समय पर बच्चों की स्क्रीनिंग जरूर करा लें। अगर उम्र के हिसाब से वजन की बात करें तो 2 से 8 साल की उम्र तक के उन बच्चों की भी स्क्रीनिंग बेहद जरूरी है, जिनका वजन ज्यादा है।
इसके अलावा उनका बॉडी मास इंडेक्स 25 प्रतिशत से ज्यादा है। ऐसे में बेहतर होगा कि बच्चे की पहली स्क्रीनिंग 2 से 8 वर्ष की उम्र के बीच ही करवा लें। अब अगर इस स्क्रीनिंग में फास्टिंग लिपिड प्रोफाइल सामान्य आता है, तो 3 से 5 साल बाद फिर से उसकी स्क्रीनिंग वक्त रहते जरूर करवा लें।

ऐसा हो ब्लड प्रेशर तो समझिए हुई गड़बड़
सबसे आदर्श ब्लड प्रेशर (नॉर्मल ब्लड प्रेशर) को 120/80 माना जाता है। इसमें पहली संख्या को सिस्टोलिक ब्लड प्रेशर कहा जाता है। यह हृदय के धड़कने (सिस्टोल) के समय के ब्लड प्रेशर को दिखाता है। दूसरी संख्या को डायस्टोलिक ब्लड प्रेशर कहते हैं।
यह हृदय के तनाव-मुक्त रहने के समय के ब्लड प्रेशर की सूचना देता है। ब्लड प्रेशर को पारे के स्तंभ में मिलीमीटर में मापा जाता है। ब्लड प्रेशर के 140/90 से ज्यादा होने पर उसे हाइपरटेंशन की अवस्था मानते हैं। इसे ही हम ब्लड प्रेशर कहते हैं। ऐसा होते ही आपको डॉक्टर से सलाह लेनी चाहिए।
क्यों बढ़ रही है यह समस्या
 परिवार में अगर हाइ कोलेस्ट्रॉल या दिल की बीमारियां आनुवंशिक रूप से हो तो परिवार के बच्चों को भी इसका खतरा हो जाता है। ज्यादातर कोलेस्ट्रॉल की समस्या मां-बाप से बच्चों में आ जाती है।
बच्चों में कोलेस्ट्रॉल बढ़ने का एक बड़ा कारण आजकल की जीवनशैली और खान-पान भी बन चुका है।
