जेंडर बदलने की इस की इस बीमारी से गांव के लोग बेहद परेशान हैं. इस गांव में जब भी किसी परिवार में लड़की का जन्म होता है तो परिवार में उदासी छा जाती है. क्योंकि उन्हें पता होता है कि बड़ी होने पर वह लड़की, लड़का बन जाएगी. इस वजह से गांव में लड़कियों की संख्या भी अब कम हो गई है. बीमारी से पीड़ित इन बच्चों को बुरी नजर से देखा जाता है. ऐसे बच्चों को ‘ग्वेदोचे’ के नाम से बुलाया जाता है. लोकल भाषा में ‘ग्वेदोचे’ शब्द का मतलब किन्नर होता है. दरसल ये बीमारी एक आनुवंशिक विकार है और इससे ग्रस्त बच्चों को ‘सूडोहर्माफ्रडाइट’ कहते हैं.
खास उम्र के बाद बन जाते हैं लड़कों जैसे अंग
गौरतलब है कि इस बीमारी में लड़की के रुप में पैदा हुए कुछ बच्चों के शरीर में खास उम्र के बाद धीरे-धीरे पुरूषों जैसे अंग बनने लगते हैं. उनकी आवाज भी बदलने लग जाती है. उनके शरीर में लड़कियों से लड़कों वाले बदलाव आने शुरू हो जाते हैं. कई शोधकर्ताओं ने इस बीमारी का उपचार खोजने की कोशिश की, लेकिन वह सफल नहीं हो सके. शोध कहता है कि इस गांव में 90 में से एक बच्चा इस बीमारी से जूझ रहा है.
