1658: औरंगजेब ने आगरा के क़िले पर क़ब्ज़ा किया और शाहजहां को कैद कर लिया गया।

1936: भारत की सरकारी रेडियो सेवा इंडियन स्टेट ब्रॉडकास्टिंग सर्विस का नाम बदलकर ऑल इंडिया रेडियो कर दिया गया।

1948: देश की सरकारी विमान सेवा एयर इंडिया ने भारत और ब्रिटेन के बीच हवाई सेवा शुरू की। इस सेवा की यह पहली अंतरराष्ट्रीय उड़ान थी।

1955: अपने किस्म के पहले मुकदमे में ब्रिटेन में एक पुरुष को दूसरे पुरुष के साथ बलात्कार की कोशिश के मामले में सजा सुनाई गई।

1983: मार्गरेट थैचर के नेतृत्व में कंज़र्वेटिव पार्टी ने ब्रिटेन के आम चुनाव में विपक्षी लेबर पार्टी की 209 सीटों के मुक़ाबले 397 सीटें ले कर दूसरी बार बहुमत हासिल किया।

2002: आतंकवादी संगठन अबू सय्याफ़ के विरुद्ध फिलिपीन के राष्ट्रपति ने अभियान शुरू करने का आदेश दिया।

2004: भारत सहित दुनिया के कई देशों में 122 वर्ष के बाद शुक्र पारगमन का अद्भुत नज़ारा फिर देखा गया।

2009: मशहूर पटकथा लेखक, नाट्य निर्देशक, कवि और अभिनेता हबीब तनवीर का निधन।
