ओ’ब्रायन ने ट्वीट किया कि राष्ट्रपति ट्रंप ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को ‘‘अपने नेतृत्व में अमेरिका और भारत के बीच रणनीतिक साझेदारी को मजबूत करने के लिए लीजन ऑफ मेरिट’’ पुरस्कार प्रदान किया। मोदी को सर्वोच्च सम्मान ‘चीफ कमांडर ऑफ द लीजन ऑफ मेरिट’ पुरस्कार दिया गया, जो केवल सरकार या राष्ट्र प्रमुख को दिया जाता है। उन्हें यह पुरस्कार उनके बेहतरीन ‘‘नेतृत्व और दूरदृष्टि के लिए दिया गया, जिसने भारत को वैश्विक शक्ति के तौर पर उभरने की दिशा में तेजी से आगे बढ़ाया है और वैश्विक चुनौतियों से निपटने के लिए अमेरिका एवं भारत की रणनीतिक साझेदारी को मजबूत’’ किया है।
