अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्रालय ने कहा, हिरासत में ले गए सभी छात्रों जानबूझकर किया अपराध

नई दिल्ली। अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्रालय की ओर से जारी बयान के अनुसार अमेरिका बने रहने के एक फर्जी विश्वविद्यालय में दाखिला लेने के मामले में गिरफ्तार किए 129 भारतीयों सहित सभी 130 विदेशी छात्रों को पता था कि वे अमेरिका में अवैध रूप से रहने के लिए अपराध कर रहे हैं। भारतीय छात्रों को हिरासत में लिए जाने पर नयी दिल्ली में अमेरिकी दूतावास को ‘डिमार्शे’ जारी करने के कुछ दिनों बात अमेरिका के विदेश मंत्रालय ने यह बयान दिया है। गौरतलब है कि अमेरिकी अधिकारियों ने कथित रूप से देश में बने रहने के लिए एक फर्जी विश्वविद्यालय में दाखिला लेने के सिलसिले में 130 विदेशी छात्रों को गिरफ्तार किया है, जिनमें से 129 भारतीय हैं।

आव्रजन एवं सीमाशुल्क विभाग के अधिकारियों ने बुधवार को यह गिरफ्तारियां कीं। ‘‘पे एंड स्टे’’ गिरोह का भंडाफोड़ करने के लिए ग्रेटर डेट्रॉइट इलाके में डीएचएस की जांच ईकाई ने ‘‘फर्जी’’ ‘यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ फर्मिंगटन’ स्थापित की थी। विदेश मंत्रालय ने एक बयान में सोमवार को कहा, ‘‘ ‘यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ फर्मिंगटन’ में दाखिला लेने वाले सभी लोगों को पता था कि इसके कोई शिक्षक नहीं हैं और ना ही इसकी कोई कक्षाएं होती हैं। उन्हें यह भी पता था कि वे अमेरिका में अवैध तरीके से रहने के लिए अपराध कर रहे हैं।’’ भारत ने हिरासत में लिए गए छात्रों तक राजनयिक पहुंच की मांग भी की थी।

इस बीच, ‘पे एंड स्टे’ मामले में गिरफ्तार किए गए आठ भारतीयों को मिशिगन की एक संघीय अदालत में पेश किया गया जहां उन्होंने खुद को निर्दोष बताया। फनीदीप करनाती, भरत काकीरेड्डी, सुरेश कंडाला, प्रेम रामपीसा, संतोष समा, अविनाश थक्कलपल्ली, अश्वन्थ नूने और नवीन प्रथीपती को मिशिगन पूर्वी जिले में न्यायाधीश के समक्ष पेश किया गया। करनाती के वकील जॉन डब्ल्यू ब्रूस्टार ने मिशिगन से ‘पीटीआई-भाषा’ से कहा कि सभी ने खुद को निर्दोष बताया है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि संघीय सरकार इस तरह के अभियान चलाकर लोगों को फंसा रही है। उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘यह सब साजिश है।’’ ब्रूस्टार ने बताया करनाती के पास एच-1बी वीजा है और वह करीब पिछले 10 सालों से अमेरिका में आईटी इंजीनियर हैं। दोषी पाए जाने पर इन आठों को पांच साल तक की सजा हो सकती है।
