खरगे ने बृहस्पतिवार को कर्नाटक में गडग जिले में एक जनसभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा, ‘‘गलती मत कीजिए। मोदी जहरीले सांप की तरह हैं। अगर आप कहते हैं कि वह जहरीले नहीं हैं तो छूकर देखिए, पता चल जाएगा। अगर आप छूएंगे तो मर जाएंगे।’’ वहीं, कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेताओं ने पुलिस में केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह के उस बयान को लेकर बृहस्पतिवार को उनके खिलाफ शिकायत दी, जिसमें उन्होंने कहा था कि अगर कर्नाटक में कांग्रेस की सरकार बन गई तो राज्य ‘दंगों की चपेट में रहेगा।’ कांग्रेस की शिकायत पर अमित शाह ने कहा कि कांग्रेस ने मेरे खिलाफ पुलिस में FIR दर्ज कराई है। हमने PFI पर बैन लगाकर कर्नाटक को सुरक्षित किया है। उन्होंने साफ तौर पर कहा कि मैं नहीं डरता हूं।

यह भी कहा कि आपको कोई आपत्ति है तो आकर बताइए कि क्यों PFI को चालू रखना चाहिए…वोट बैंक की लालच में कांग्रेस ने PFI को सिर पर चढ़ाया था। विपक्षी दल पर हमला जारी रखते हुए शाह ने कहा कि कांग्रेस 70 साल से धारा 370 को एक बच्चे की तरह अपनी गोद में सहला रही थी। उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस, जेडीएस, सपा, बसपा, ममता सब कहते थे कि इसे मत हटाइए कश्मीर में खून की नदियां बह जाएगी। धारा 370 हट गई खून की नदियां तो छोड़िए किसी की कंकड़ चलाने की भी हिम्मत नहीं हुई। उन्होंने कहा कि एक तरफ राहुल गांधी के नेतृत्व में कांग्रेस पार्टी है और दूसरी तरफ पीएम मोदी के नेतृत्व में हमारी बीजेपी पार्टी है। यह चुनाव यह तय करने के लिए है कि कर्नाटक की जनता मंच को आगे ले जाने के लिए डबल-इंजन सरकार चाहती है या रिवर्स-गियर वाली कांग्रेस सरकार।
