नई दिल्ली। जलवायु परिवर्तन और वायु प्रदूषण का संकट दिनों दिन बढ़ता ही जा रहा है। बीते कुछ सालों से यह संकट और गहराता जा रहा है। पर्यावरण से जुड़े आंकड़े जुटाने वाले दुनिया के सबसे बड़े अमेरिकी संस्था नेशनल ओशिएनिक एंड एटमोस्फेयरिक एडिमिनिस्ट्रेशन की मानें तो 1880 से इसके रिकॉर्ड रखने की शुरुआत के बाद से 2018 धरती का सबसे गर्म साल रहा। आज स्थिति यह हो चुकी है कि तापमान में असमान्य उतार-चढ़ाव को लोग आसानी से नजरअंदाज कर देते हैं।

क्योंकि, पिछले कुछ वर्षों में पर्यावरण में इतना परिवर्तन हो चुका है कि लोग मौसम की असमानता को ज्यादा दिन तक महसूस ही नहीं कर पाते। सच्चाई ये है कि आज भारत में गंगा के मैदानी हिस्सों की अधिकतर जनसंख्या बहुत बड़े संकट के दौर से गुजर रही है, जिसपर जितना ध्यान देने की आवश्यकता है, वह अभी तक हो नहीं पा रहा है।

60 करोड़ से ज्यादा आबादी पर खतरा इंडिया स्पेंड की एक रिपोर्ट में विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन की 2018 के एक सर्वे के आधार पर बताया गया है कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी का संसदीय क्षेत्र वाराणसी आज पृथ्वी के सबसे प्रदूषित शहरों में से एक बन चुका है।

करीब 12 लाख की आबादी वाला यह शहर 2016 से ही प्रदूषण के मामले में राजधानी दिल्ली को भी पीछे छोड़ रहा है।
अकेले वाराणसी ही नहीं, गंगा के मैदानी इलाकों की 60 करोड़ से अधिक जनसंख्या आज वायू प्रदूषण और पर्यावरण परिवर्तन के सबसे बड़े खतरों से जूझने के लिए मजबूर है। विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के मुताबिक वाराणसी के साथ-साथ भारत के जो 5 बड़े शहर 2.5 माइक्रोन डायमीटर(पीएम 2.5) या उससे कम के कणों से प्रदूषित हैं, उनमें कानपुर,फरीदाबाद, गया और पटना जैसे शहर भी शामिल हैं। ये कण दिल के रोगों के अलावा, सांस सबंधी रोगों और कैंसर जैसी खतरनाक बीमारियों के लिए भी जिम्मेदार माने जाते हैं।

अगर पीएम 10 (पीएम10) के आधार पर भी प्रदूषण को आंकें तो विश्व के 15 में से 11 शहर भारत में हैं। ये कण सिर्फ इंसान के स्वास्थ्य के लिए ही खतरा नहीं है, बल्कि ग्रीनहाऊस के प्रभाव वाले लक्षणों के कारण पृथ्वी के तापमान को भी असमान्य ढंग से बढ़ा रहे हैं। इसके कारण गंगा के मैदानी इलाकों में गर्मी असमान्य रूप से बढ़ रही है और मानसून भी असामान्य हो चुका है।
