बीजिंग एयरोस्पेस आॅटोमैटिक कंट्रोल इंस्टीट्यूट (बीएएसीआई) के परियोजना निदेशक लियु गांगजुन ने चीन के सरकारी अखबार ग्लोबल टाइम्स को बताया कि रोबोट मेईबाओ ना केवल गैरकानूनी गतिविधियों पर नजर रखता है, बल्कि बीजिंग में मेईयुआन समुदाय के लोगों को उपयोगी जानकारी भी मुहैया कराता है।
उन्होंने बताया कि इस रोबोट का दिसंबर, 2018 से अप्रैल, 2019 तक परीक्षण किया जा रहा है। लियु ने बताया कि बीएएसीआई ने चाइना एकेडमी आॅफ लॉच व्हिकल टेक्नोलॉजी की मदद से इसे विकसित किया है।
उन्होंने बताया कि अगर सोसाइटी में कोई संदिग्ध दिखता है, तो मेईबाओ उसे पहचान लेगा और अलार्म बजने लगेगा।
