भदोही। 50 साल के महादेव ने अपने अपमान को जिद में बदलकर कामयाबी हासिल की है। भदोही के रहने वाले महादेव के जीवन में एक पड़ाव ऐसा आया, जब उन्होंने एथलेटिक्स छोड़ दिया। इसके बाद 2011 में एक समारोह के दौरान डिस्ट्रिक्ट मजिस्ट्रेट खिलाड़ियों को सम्मानित कर रहे थे। लेकिन डीएम ने महादेव को सम्मानित करने से इनकार कर दिया, क्योंकि उनकी वेशभूषा एथलीट की तरह नहीं थी। वे धोती कुर्ता पहने हुए थे। डीएम ने यह भी कहा कि खिलाड़ी तुम हो या तुम्हारा बेटा? डीएम की इस बात से महादेव को ठेस पहुंची।

उन्होंने 42 की उम्र में एथलेटिक्स में वापसी की तैयारी की। वे अब 50 वर्ष के हो चुके हैं और कई मेडल जीत चुके हैं। महादेव प्रजापति बताते हैं कि 2011 के कार्यक्रम में डीएम ने मुझे मेडल गले में न पहनाकर हाथ में थमा दिया था। जब मैंने उनसे सवाल किया तो वे बोले कि आप पहले खिलाड़ी थे, अब नहीं हैं। मेडल उन्हीं को गले में पहनाया जाता है, जो वर्तमान में खिलाड़ी होते हैं। इसी के बाद मैंने फिटनेस पर काम शुरू किया। 4 जून 2012 को बेंगलुरु में हुई जेवलिन और 100 मीटर रिले रेस में हिस्सा लेकर गोल्ड हासिल किया।

इंडोनेशिया में होने वाले मास्टर एशियन गेम में हिस्सा लेने की तैयारी
महादेव ने सीनियर इंटनेशनल प्रतियोगिताओं में अब तक 16 गोल्ड, 16 सिल्वर और 7 ब्रॉन्ज भारत की झोली में डाले हैं। उन्होंने 2013 में श्रीलंका, 2014 में जिया गामा, 2015 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया, 2017 में न्यूजीलैंड, मलेशिया जाकर मास्टर एथलीट चैम्पियनशिप खेली। वहीं, नेशनल्स में 8 गोल्ड, 6 सिल्वर और 4 ब्रांज मेडल जीते हैं। पिछले दिनों 6 जुलाई से 11 जुलाई तक सिंगापुर में मास्टर एथलेटिक्स चैम्पियनशिप में उन्होंने भारत को जेवलिन थ्रो में गोल्ड और ट्रिपल जम्प में सिल्वर मेडल दिलाया। अभी वे अक्टूबर में इंडोनेशिया में होने वाले मास्टर एशियन गेम में हिस्सा लेने की तैयारी कर रहे हैं।

विदेशों में खेलने के लिए करनी पड़ती है क्राउड फंडिंग
महादेव खेती कर परिवार का भरण पोषण करते हैं और छप्पर के मकान में रहते हैं। वे जिन प्रतियोगिताओं में हिस्सा लेते हैं, उनमें जीतने पर धनराशि नहीं मिलती, सिर्फ मेडल दिए जाते हैं। यही वजह है कि उन्हें विदेशों में खेलने के लिए क्राउड फंडिंग करानी पड़ती है। महादेव ने हाल ही में सिंगापुर में इंटरनेशनल मास्टर एथलेटिक्स चैम्पियनशिप में भाग लेने के लिए मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ को पत्र लिखकर मदद की गुहार की थी, लेकिन सचिवालय ने यह कहकर मना कर दिया कि मास्टर एथलीटों के लिए आर्थिक मदद का नियम नहीं है।

इसके बावजूद महादेव लोगों की मदद से सिंगापुर में होने वाले मास्टर एथलेटिक्स चैम्पियनशिप में भाग लेने गए।महादेव कहते हैं कि मास्टर गेम में कोई प्राइजमनी नहीं होती और सरकारी अनुदान भी नहीं मिलता। लोगों को मेरे खेल व मुझमें दिलचस्पी है, इसलिए लोग क्राउंड फंडिंग करते हैं। सिंगापुर जाने के लिए डीएम राजेंद्र सिंह ने मेरे बारे में सुनकर 4 जुलाई को खेल प्रोत्साहन राशि के रूप में 25 हजार रुपए दिए। वहीं, एसपी राजेश यश ने 12,500 रुपए की मदद की। कुल करीब 60 हजार खर्च आया था। बाकी खर्च में आम लोगों ने मेरी मदद की।

1990 में परिवार के लिए छोड़नी पड़ी थी नौकरी

महादेव ने 1985 में सीआरपीएफ जॉइन की थी। इसी बीच उनके पिता की तबीयत खराब हो गई। परिवार के सामने देखरेख का संकट खड़ा हो गया। इसलिए उन्होंने 1990 में नौकरी छोड़ दी। नौकरी से पहले उन्होंने 1980 में ऑल इंडिया स्कूल बॉयज नेशनल्स, 1981 में इंटर स्टेट चैम्पियनशिप में एथलेटिक्स में हिस्सा लिया था। 1983 में त्रिवेंद्रम में ऑल इंडिया यूनिवर्सिटी प्रतियोगिता और ग्वालियर में ऑल इंडिया यूनिवर्सिटी टूर्नामेंट में हिस्सा लिया था।
