मेरी प्राइमरी एजुकेशन सहारनपुर में ही हुई और उसके बाद आगे की पढ़ाई आगरा से हुई। 1978 के बैच में मैं सलेक्ट हुआ और मेडिकल की मेरी एजुकेशन एसएन मेडिकल कालेज आगरा से हुई। 1984 में मैंने एमबीबीएस कम्प्लीट किया। उसके बाद एसएन से ही मैंने एमडी की एजुकेशन कम्प्लीट की।
पिडियाट्रिक्स यानि बाल रोग विशेषज्ञ की ब्रांच आपने क्यों चुनी और उसके बाद कॅरियर की शुरुआत कैसे की? पिडियाट्रिक्स की ब्रांच चुनना मेरी अपनी
च्वॉइस थी। इसमें हम नवजात से 18 साल तक के युवाओं को देखते हैं। बच्चों से मुझे शुरू से काफी लगाव है। खास बात यह है कि इसमें हमारे पास आने वाला हर बच्चा मरीज ही हो यह जरूरी नहीं। इस ब्रांच में वेक्सिनेसन का काम काफी होता है। इसमें सामान्य बच्चे भी हमारे पास काफी आते हैं, जब हम बच्चों से इंटरेक्ट होते हैं तब काफी अच्छा लगता है। मैंने अपनी एमबीबीएस कम्प्लीट करने की बाद एसएन मेडिकल कालेज में पिडियाट्रिक्स डिपार्टमेंट में स्कूल ऑफिसर के रूप में ज्वॉइन कर अपने कॅरियर की शुरुआत की। लगभग 3 साल मैं वहां कार्यरत रहा। उसके बाद मैंने अपनी प्रेक्टिस शुरू की।

इस प्रोफेशन में जॉब सेटिसफिकेशन मिलता है, जो कि सबसे अच्छी बात है। साथ ही इसमें प्रोफेशनल लाइफ में रहते हुए सोसाइटी के लिए सोशली बहुत कुछ करने का मौका रहता है।
इस प्रोफेशन में आपका लक्ष्य क्या है?
अपने प्रोफेशन के प्रति समर्पित रहते हुए अधिक से अधिक बच्चों का इलाज करना और बच्चे स्वस्थ रहें, इसके लिए उनके पेरेंट्स को जागरूक करना ही मेरा लक्ष्य है।
गर्मी के इस मौसम में बच्चों में किस प्रकार की प्रॉब्लम हो रही हैं, बचाव के क्या उपाय है?
देखिये, मौसम के अनुसार बीमारियाँ बदल जाती है। अगर गर्मियों की बात करें तो संक्रमित पानी के सेवन से बीमारियाँ बहुत होती हैं। जिसमें पेट से जुड़े रोग उल्टी, हीट स्ट्रोक, मलेरिया और डायरिया जैसी प्रॉब्लम होने लगती हैं। अब जो बारिस का समय है इसमें इन्फेक्शन अधिक होता है। फोड़े-फुंसी, मरोड़ी हो रही हैं। इन सबसे बचने में परहेज की अहम् भूमिका है। घर में कूलर अथवा एसी चलायें सामान्य अथवा स्थिर टेम्प्रेचर में बच्चों को रहने दें, अधिक गर्मी या ठंडे टेम्प्रेचर से बचाएं। बच्चों के शरीर में पानी की कमी न होने दे। ठंडा पानी, नीबू की सिकंजी, पर्याप्त रूप से लिक्विड बच्चों को देते रहें। दूसरी बात मलेरिया जो कि मच्छरों से होने वाला रोग है इसलिए ऐसे इंतजाम करें कि घर में मच्छर न होने पायें। मच्छरदानी का प्रयोग करें। बच्चों को मच्छर न काटे इसके लिए क्रीम का प्रयोग भी कर सकते हैं। बच्चों को खाने-पीने की जो भी चीज दें उसका खास खयाल रखें। बच्चों को पानी उवालने के बाद ठंडा करके दें।
जिन बच्चों को गर्मियों में कोई प्रोब्लम नहीं है क्या उनको हम ओआरएस का घोल दे सकते हैं ?
नहीं, ओआरएस का घोल एक दवा ही है, जिस प्रकार दवाई जब जरूरत होती है तभी ली जाती है, उसी प्रकार ओआरएस का घोल तभी दिया जाना चाहिए जब इसकी जरूरत हो।
कुछ लोग कहते है कि नवजात शिशु को जन्म के तुरंत बाद माँ का दूध नहीं पिलाना चाहिए?
नहीं, यह एक दम गलत सोच है। मैं तो यह कहता हूँ कि सभी पेडियाट्रीशियन और गाइनोक्लोजिस्ट इस बात को ठान लें कि बच्चे को सिर्फ माँ का दूध ही देना है, तो इससे बड़ा डॉक्टर्स का योगदान बच्चों के स्वास्थ्य में नहीं हो सकता। पूरे छह माह तक सिर्फ माँ का दूध ही बच्चों को दिया जाना चाहिए। जो कि बच्चे के स्वास्थ्य के लिए अमृत के समान है।
आजकल बच्चे कुपोषण का शिकार अधिक हो रहे हैं इस प्रॉब्लम की क्या वजह है?
देखिये, सबसे इम्पोर्टेंट तो माँ का दूध ही है। जो बात अभी मैंने कही। बच्चे को जन्म से छह माह तक नियमित सिर्फ माँ का दूध पिलाना चाहिए। उसके बाद माँ के दूध के साथ-साथ अन्य चीजों को देना शुरू कर देना चाहिए। दूसरी बात है हाइजीन मेंटिनेंस यानि सफाई। इसके लिए सबसे आसान बात है हैंड वाशिंग यानि हाथ धोना। खाना बनाने से पहले हाथ धोएं, खाना खाने से पहले हाथ धोएं। मतलब अपने और बच्चों के हाथ रेगूलर साफ़ रखें ये बच्चों की सेहत के लिए बेहद जरूरी है।
शिशु को कौन से टीके लगवाना अनिवार्य है और क्यों?
बीमारियों से नवजात को सुरक्षित करने के लिए टीके लगवाना आवश्यक है। सरकारी टीकाकरण में विभिन्न बीमारियों से बचाव के लिए टीके लगाए जाते हैं जिनमें तपेदिक (टी.बी.), डिप्थीरिया, काली खाँसी (पर्टुसिस), पोलियो, खसरा (मीजल्स), टिटनस, हेपेटाइटिस बी, हेपेटाइटिस ए, मोतीझरा (टाइफाइड), कंठमाला का रोग (मम्प्स), रुबेला, जठरांत्र शोथ या गैस्ट्रोएंट्राइटिस (रोटावायरस), कई बीमारियों के लिए टीके लगावाना वैकल्पिक होता है, जैसे कि न्युमोकोकस, छोटी माता, छोटी चेचक (चिकनपॉक्स), मेनिंगोकोकल मेनिन्जिटिस, इनफ्लूएंजा, इनमें अनिवार्य लगने बाले टीके सरकारी स्वास्थ्य केंद्र के अलावा प्राइवेट डॉक्टर से भी लगवा सकते हैं।
