In the field of medicine—especially knee replacement surgery—Dr. Meghal Goyal has brought the gift of precision and safety to Agra through robotic technology. With experience of over 1,500 successful knee and hip replacement surgeries during his training period alone, Dr. Goyal is now recognized as a gem in the world of medicine. He attributes his success to the inspiration of his mother, Dr. Alka Goyal, and the encouragement of his father, Dr. Mukesh Goyal.
In an exclusive interview, we discovered how he inherited simplicity and sincerity from his parents, and how the values of honesty and service shaped his career. Today, he continues their legacy at the Goyal City Hospital, founded by his father, enhancing it through his medical practice and innovations.
Dr. Meghal, you have achieved great heights in the medical field at a young age. How did it all begin?
For me, becoming a doctor was not just a profession, it was a philosophy of life. My mother, Dr. Alka Goyal, was my constant inspiration—she encouraged me at every step. My father, Dr. Mukesh Goyal, gave me the confidence to face any challenge, reminding me that if your intentions are pure, success will follow. Watching them interact with patients with such compassion and dedication as a child planted the seeds of service in me.

Was there ever a time when you found this field extremely challenging?
Absolutely. Every day in medicine presents a new challenge. In knee and hip replacement surgeries, precision is critical, especially when working with robotic technology. During my training, I spent hundreds of hours in the operating room and participated in over 1,500 surgeries. At times, I felt exhausted—but I always heard my mother’s voice echo in my heart: “True essence lies in service.” And my father’s unwavering belief acted like a shelter in every storm.

What inspired you to adopt robotic technology in surgeries?
I believe patients deserve the best possible technology and care. Robotic surgery allows us to perform knee replacements with unmatched precision. This method has long been practiced abroad, and I wanted to ensure that patients in India could benefit from such advanced facilities too. My mother’s foresight and my father’s practical thinking played a key role in this decision.

When you practice at Goyal City Hospital, do you feel your parents’ influence around you?
Absolutely. This hospital is not just an institution—it’s a legacy. My mother taught me to touch a patient’s soul while treating them, and my father showed me the importance of transparency in management and technical efficiency. Every day, I keep their vision alive—through honesty, compassion, and innovation.
In your opinion, what defines an ideal doctor?
An ideal doctor treats every patient as a human being, not just as a statistic. My mother always said, “Behind every patient is a family and their hopes.” That perspective keeps me grounded. My father says, “Never let pride take over—true knowledge brings humility.” For me, that’s the true definition of an ideal doctor.
How do you envision your role in the coming years?
I want Goyal City Hospital to become a world-class center for robotic surgery and also an ideal training institution for young doctors. My goal is to carry forward my parents’ values—with dedication, innovation, and a spirit of service.
Was there ever pressure from your parents to become a doctor?
No, never any pressure—only inspiration. They never told me I had to become a doctor. But the life they lived was in itself an example. I watched how my father managed the hospital like a family. His devotion became my greatest motivation.
What message would you like to give to today’s youth aiming for a career in medicine?
This field isn’t just about textbooks—it demands a spirit of service, sensitivity, and patience. If you’re entering just for financial gain, the road will seem tough. But if you’re here to ease someone’s suffering, every challenge will turn into an opportunity.
Have you ever treated a patient alongside your father?
Yes, many times. In several surgeries, my father has been a guiding presence. When we plan a patient’s treatment together, it feels like the true spirit of a doctor’s family—experience, emotion, and advanced technology coming together in harmony.
Your wife, Dr. Khushboo Goyal, is also a successful gynecologist. What would you like to say about her?
Khushboo is not just my life partner, but also a dedicated and empathetic doctor. Whenever I’m at a crossroads, her balanced perspective and positive energy guide me. The way she connects with her patients is inspiring. For both of us, medicine is not just a career—it’s a shared mission, and her support in that mission is invaluable.
