जिलाध्यक्ष दुर्गेश त्रिपाठी ने बताया कि स्मृति ईरानी सुबह पार्टी कार्यालय के पास बूढ़न माता मंदिर में पूजा कर रोडशो की शुरूआत करेंगी। करीब दो किमी का रोडशो कलेक्ट्रेट पर समाप्त होगा। यहां नामांकन से पहले मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ और स्मृति ईरानी लोगों को संबोधित करेंगी।

अमेठी लोकसभा सीट कांग्रेस का गढ़ रही है। 2014 के लोकसभा चुनाव में भी भाजपा ने स्मृति को अमेठी से उम्मीदवार बनाया था। 2009 के लोकसभा चुनाव में राहुल साढ़े तीन लाख वोटों के अंतर से जीते थे, लेकिन 2014 में उनका सामना स्मृति से था। स्मृति से उन्हें कड़ी टक्कर मिली और जीत का अंतर घटकर एक लाख सात हजार वोट पर आ गया था। राहुल गांधी को 4 लाख से ज्यादा वोट मिले थे। स्मृति भी 3 लाख से ज्यादा वोट प्राप्त करने में कामयाब रही थीं।
